Just wondering – are we able to add vector images to the pdf or do we need to encode them as images (i.e. jpg) before hand? thanks

    Hi donal,

You can pass any vector graphics to the addImage method. But this one, will make a picture of it (JPG) and add it to the PDF.

I am currently thinking about adding some new features related to image embedding.

Are you thinking about embedding Adobe Illustrator files ou SVG ?

    kind regards,

    Thibault

I’m putting a logo on the pdf … when it gets turned into a jpg the quality drops (typical scaling issues etc), was just wondering if it could stay as a vector in the pdf. The logo could have been designed in flash/illustrator etc.

So basically just trying to embed some vector graphics … I’m actually building out of the flash platform rather than flex … so its some vectors in an movieclip (display object). hope this makes sense. :)

Excellent stuff you’re doing by the way!

Yes of course it does makes sense :)

I could add an SWF or AI embedding feature so that you specify the .ai or .swf file and it gets embedded.

Would that be ok for you ?

    kind regards,

    Thibault

    Hi Thibault,

Thank you for the video, it is very nice. The issue I am trying to solve is to have alivepdf run inside the browser Flash runtime (not in AIR). I need a button exactly like your example “Generate PDF” button on this web page to capture Flex charts in the browser and produce a PDF report for the user.

    Is this possible?

Thank you kindly and best regards,
    Eric

Very cool but one major question: where is the Page class? Its referenced all over the place but seems to be missing from the source and documentation.

    Hi Ben,

The Page class is a private class used by the PDF class. As you say it, it is missing from the documentation.

I think I will change that in the next release and let people create a specific a Page object and pass it to the addPage method.

That way, addPage and getPage methods will use a Page object and I will add it to the docs :)

    Thanks for your comment ;)

    kind regards,

    Thibault

Thank you again Thibault for such a nice of piece of work on alivepdf and for the tutorial videos. I’ve got it now. Once I got a PHP server running, I as fine. I would be interested, although, if you have a JSP version of the server script.

    Best Regards,
    Eric

Alive PDF is awesome, but it’s missing vector information that you can achieve via postscript, indealy when you add a display object to a page it should keep the integrity of all vector data including fonts, this would make this awesome system super dubber awesome.

Without vector text and the like is losing the crispness it should have.

    Hi,
is there a way to add a spark graphics (f.e. group) to pdf as a vector image?

I’m using another library for getting sprite groups from loaded SVG, then I apply some filters, and I need to add changed graphics to pdf. I could convert it into bitmap, but the products are company logotypes, so I’d like to preserve vector format in PDF.

Anyway, You’ve done great job with AlivePDF, it’s impressive :)
